The statistical analysis offers the user the opportunity to obtain information about the style of their document and thus possibly derive information on how to improve it.

Examples of the analysis are (statistical) readability, number of filler words, frequency of verbs used, etc. Whether the statistical analysis is available and how many functions it offers depends on the respective language (do the optional rules used exist in LanguageTool for the selected language).

The analysis works from the entire document, to the chapters, through all levels of the subchapters, and down to the individual paragraph. The paragraph is the lowest level. Clicking on a paragraph jumps to it in the document and underlines the corresponding words.

The display is color-coded into seven levels that provide information about the respective frequency. Dark blue means little to none. Dark red means very common. Yellow means mediocre. (In terms of readability, dark red means extremely difficult, dark blue means extremely easy.) The values are displayed via the tooltip.

The dialog contains the following elements:

Analysis: Selection of the statistical function with which the analysis is to be carried out.

Chapter: The currently analyzed chapter is displayed (»Entire document« is the top level). Clicking on the chapter takes you one level higher (does not apply to »Entire document«).

Subchapter: All subchapters of the respective chapter are displayed here. Clicking on a subchapter takes you to this level. It is then displayed in »Chapter«. The lowest level is the paragraph. Clicking on this level takes you to the document. The cursor is placed on the corresponding paragraph. The words found in the analysis are underlined.
